Attention: Important Announcement
Hello everyone, this is the founder of Butterfly Records.
Most of you know me by October, Luna, Aurora, that weird blonde girl who makes electronic music, etc.
Being a long-time lover of music and record stores, I have found throughout my life that when artists create music, they have certain visions in which they want their music to be experienced. Music has been shared and celebrated for literally too many years to count. Fast forward to 2012, and physical music products are not as recognized as they used to be in the '80s. Many formats have come and gone, and the digital age seems to be dawning upon us all.
I am so lucky to be in the position that I am. I get to represent the small group of people that are saddened by this digital age; the small group of people that love to go out of their way to visit a shop and buy music physically the day it comes out. When I founded Butterfly Records, I had one goal in mind: to connect the bruised bond between the artist, record stores, and the consumers. I know that a lot of artists choose to distribute their music only through digital means. I also know that the economy is struggling and a lot of people cannot afford to go out and buy however much music they want to buy. But, we must all respect each other's decisions, and realize that you don't need to buy everything that is presented to you. Being an individual requires responsibility and self control that many have but many also lack. With this in mind, I have been thinking about an idea for a while now, sat through countless meetings to make ends meet, anxiously awaiting permission, and can now proudly tell you that my dream is happening!
Butterfly Records will be creating and owning our own record stores. Fans of myself, Thema, Jo E and The Elephants will now be able to go to individual Butterfly Records shops to buy physical music products! Products offered at these shops will only be products from the Butterfly Records catalog. Exclusive sales, offers, competitions, listening parties, signings, and other events will be noted on the official Butterfly Records Twitter account (@butterflyrec). These shops will be available all around the world.
Schedule for planned Butterfly Records stores:
USA - 250 stores (5 stores per state)
Canada - 200 stores
Mexico - 50 stores
South America - 100 stores
Africa - 50 stores
Europe - 300 stores
Asia - 500 stores
Australia - 100 stores
These shops will be built in August-September and will be opening in November.
Another expansion to the Butterfly Records business will be our first Digital Store. Fans will be able to pick the specific audio format they please, including AAC, MP3 HD, HQ 320kbps MP3, Apple Lossless, FLAC, Apple Lossless & FLAC, and Source Audio. There will also be exclusive downloads offered to those who buy from the Digital Store, not offered anywhere else.
The Butterfly Records Digital Store will be opened on August 20th, 2012.
